October was ushered in with the celebration of Epcot’s 30th anniversary. The event celebrated what the park has meant to guests and members of the Walt Disney family alike.
The Examiner reported while the events were planned for the afternoon guests flowed into the park early to share in the day, enjoy the atmosphere, and of course collect sought after commemorative memorabilia. The 30th memorabilia created long lines at the gift shops- guests waiting hours for their turn! (Image Source)
What Epcot was Celebrating?
The day spoke to the importance of Disney not only to us as vacationers, but also to those who work there. Two musical groups who had been at Epcot for 30 years performed. And 150 cast members were honored for having worked at Epcot since they opened their doors.
This is part of what makes Disney such a special vacation destination. Parks and Places that are like homes to the people who work there, creating a wonderful family experience for your trip.
The celebration was topped off with a special addition to the fireworks display.

I love Epcot during December before the Xmas rush. Holidays around the world is amazing. I also suggest doing the candlelight procession. Love Epcot because kids are having fun, but learning at the same time.
This is my favorite time of the year to visit WDW and the Candlelight Procession is a must for those traveling at this time of year.
I wish I could have been at Epcot for the 30th Anniversary. I was there for the 25th. It was truly a great experience. The fireworks show for the 25th was great as well. I even was able to see a little preview from Pop Century were I was staying that trip. Epcot is one of my favorite parks. I love walking around World Showcase.
My favorite ride is in this park “Soarin’ Over California” and 3 of my favorite restaurants Le Cellier Steakhouse, Coral Reef, & Tutto Italia.
Wow – hard to believe Epcot is 30! I remember when the park opened!
I love Epcot for the experience – it truly is a global experience. Even those of us that aren’t kids – or don’t travel with kids can see the world through all new eyes. I love Epcot during the holidays – just something magical for me… Happy Birthday Epcot and your loyal employees!
Epcot is the most beautiful park during the Xmas holidays.
Epcot has certainly grown on me over the last 30 years! LOL! As a child, I was always partial to Magic Kingdom, as most children are, but as an adult I can surely appreciate the value of being to experience environments so very different than my own – from sea, to land, to space, and multiple countries that I may never get to actually see in my lifetime. And I have enjoyed how Illuminations has evolved over the years. Great park, great 30 years! Wish I could have gone this month to help celebrate!
